The Gym of the Gower

Classes

Every class is
in the membership

15 sessions a week for kids, juniors and adults, plus Boxercise, yoga and an early strength class before work. Coached by people who have taken fighters from their first night on the bags to the professional ranks.

No class fees. No pay-as-you-go bolt-ons. If you are a member, you can walk into any session on this timetable.

The week

Times are transcribed from the club's own timetable. The 07:30 class starts before the gym opens at 08:00 — the door is unlocked for it, so come in as normal.

What each class is

In plain English

Total Body Workout

17 and over, all levels

  • Mon, Wed, Fri 07:30–08:30

An hour of strength and conditioning before work. Weights, bodyweight work and circuits, scaled to whoever walks through the door that morning.

It runs before the gym opens to the floor, so you get the place to yourself and you are done in time for work.

Junior Boxing

Ages 11–16 · Secondary school age

  • Mon, Wed, Fri 17:00–18:00

Real club boxing, treated as such. Stance, guard, footwork, pads and bag work, and the fitness that goes with it.

Nobody gets thrown in at the deep end. Whether they want to box competitively or just get fitter and stick at something, they train in the same session.

Kids Boxing

Ages 5–10 · Primary school age

  • Tue, Thu 17:00–17:45
  • Sat 10:30–11:30

The first rung of the ladder. Coordination, balance, basic stance and punching on the pads, wrapped up in games so it stays fun.

It is loud and it is busy, but the coaching is real. At this age it is about technique, listening and confidence — not fighting.

Adults Boxing

17 and over, beginner to professional

  • Mon, Wed, Fri 18:00–19:00

First-timers and professional fighters train in the same session, and it works. Warm-up, technique, pads, bags and conditioning.

You do not have to spar to train here. If you want to, it comes later, and only when a coach says you are ready.

Boxercise

17 and over, all levels

  • Tue, Thu 18:00–19:00

Boxing training without the boxing. Pads, bags, skipping and circuits for people who want the fitness and the stress relief.

No sparring and no contact. If you have never thrown a punch in your life, this is the easiest way in.

Yoga

17 and over, all levels

  • Thu 10:00–11:00

An hour of mobility, stretching and breathing on the matted floor, in the middle of the morning.

Worth doing on its own, and it will do more for your boxing than another round on the bag. Beginners welcome.

Row of heavy punch bags and a floor-to-ceiling ball on the bag floor
The bag floor at Crofty. Heavy bags, uppercut bags and a floor-to-ceiling ball.

Coming later

Planned, not running yet

Pilates and Massage therapy are planned for the Crofty unit. Neither is on the timetable yet, so please do not join for them. When they start, they will appear on this page with a day and a time like everything else.

Questions we get asked

What age can my child start boxing?

Kids Boxing is for ages 5–10. Junior Boxing is ages 11–16. After that they train in Adults Boxing, which is 17 and over. If you are not sure which one suits your child, ring 07780 543501 and ask.

Do I need my own gloves?

Turn up in trainers and something you can move in for your first session. Talk to a coach before you spend money on gloves and wraps — they will tell you what is worth buying. Club kit is available at the gym.

Do I need to be fit already?

No. Nobody arrives fit. Every class is scaled to the people in it, and you work at your own pace until you are not thinking about it any more.

Are the classes included in my membership?

Yes. Membership is £50 a month for adults and £40 a month for 16 and under, and the classes on this timetable are included. There is nothing extra to pay per session.

Is there a joining fee?

We do not publish one here because we would rather not get it wrong. Ask at the gym or call 07780 543501 to confirm the current membership details before you join.

Do I need to book a class?

There is no online booking. Turn up a few minutes before the session starts, or call 07780 543501 first if you would rather have a word with a coach beforehand.

Come and have a look
