Accessibility
We want this site to work for everyone. Here is what we have done, what is not right yet, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.
Last updated . This page is a plain-English draft written for the gym and has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor.
Our aim
This website is run by Total Body Fitness Gym. We are aiming to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
We are not claiming we have got everything right. Some of the things listed further down are not there yet, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML. Real headings, lists, links and landmarks, in a sensible order, so screen readers and reading modes can make sense of a page.
- Keyboard navigation. Everything you can do with a mouse can be done with a keyboard. There is a "skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Visible focus. Whatever you are on shows a clear outline, so you can always see where you are.
- Colour contrast. Text and interface colours are chosen to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios, and colour is never the only way we tell you something.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off.
- Zoom and resizing. Pages reflow and stay usable when you zoom in your browser or increase the text size. There is no fixed-width layout to fight with.
- Light and dark. The site follows your device's light or dark setting, and both are designed and contrast-checked rather than one being an afterthought.
- No auto-playing audio. Nothing on this site plays sound unless you start it.
- Text alternatives. Images that carry meaning have alternative text. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers rather than being read out.
- No pop-ups or interruptions. No cookie banner, no chat widget, no overlay asking for your email.
Known problems
These are the things we know are not good enough yet. They are being worked on.
- The gym tour video has no audio description. The video has no speech in it — it is a walk round the gym set to music — so there is nothing to caption. Rather than add captions that would say nothing, we have written out what the video shows underneath it on the home page. What we have not yet done is a full audio description for anyone who cannot see the footage. Everything it shows about the gym and its facilities is also written out on the gym page, and you are welcome to ring us and ask.
- The class timetable is a complex layout. A weekly timetable is a grid, and grids are hard to read one cell at a time. We are still testing it with screen readers and it may not read as clearly as it should. If you want the timetable read out or sent to you in a simpler form, ring the gym and we will go through it with you.
- Some photograph descriptions are thin. A few of the gym photographs have alternative text that says what the picture is but not enough about what is actually in it. We are rewriting these.
- We have not had an independent audit. Testing so far has been done by hand — keyboard-only navigation, browser accessibility tools, zoom and both colour themes — not by an external accessibility specialist. Manual testing of this kind finds a lot, but it does not find everything.
Telling us about a problem
If you find something on this site you cannot use, or you need information from a page in a different format, please tell us. It is genuinely useful — we cannot fix what we do not know about.

WhatsApp: message us
In person: Unit 24, Crofty Industrial Estate, Crofty, Swansea SA4 3RS
Tell us the page you were on and what happened. We aim to reply within five working days. If a fix is going to take longer than that, we will say so and tell you how we can get you the information in the meantime.
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, which gives free advice on rights under the Equality Act 2010.
Getting into the gym
This part is about the building rather than the website.
The gym is a ground-floor industrial unit — Unit 24, Crofty Industrial Estate, Crofty — with parking on the estate.
We are not going to claim more than we can back up. We have not carried out a formal access survey of the unit, so we are not stating that it is fully step-free or that there is an accessible toilet.
If you have specific access requirements, please ring us on 07780 543501 before you come. We can tell you exactly what the entrance, the floor space and the facilities are like, and what we can do to help. We would much rather have that conversation than have you arrive and find a problem.
About this statement
